River Bot
Documentation

A clear starting point.

Set up the essentials first. Enable integrations only after their permissions and configuration are ready.

This guide is based on the local bot source. Command availability must be checked against the version running on your server.

1. Install River Bot

The official bot invitation is not configured yet. Contact your server administrator; do not use an unverified invitation. You need permission to manage the target Discord server. Review the requested permissions before authorizing.

2. Configure your server

Use /setup verify to choose a verification channel and verified role. Put River Bot’s role above roles it must assign, and below sensitive staff roles. Grant only the permissions needed for enabled modules.

Configure welcomes using /setup welcome and optional joining DMs using /setup joindm. Some members disable DMs; a failed DM does not mean verification failed.

3. Set roles and channels

Use /setup channels for navigation destinations and /setup staff for trusted staff roles. Review access to these commands carefully. Enable modules with /setup module.

4. Connect a social account

TikTok setup is not live yet. When enabled, the server operator will issue a short-lived connection invitation to the account owner. Open the invitation privately, review the target Discord server, and choose Continue with TikTok. TikTok asks for user.info.basic and video.list.

Connection authorizes public-video lookup; it does not publish videos or grant access to private videos. Return to the account page to disconnect. If the session expires, request another private invitation from your administrator.

5. Notification configuration

The existing bot provides /tiktok setup, /tiktok channel, /tiktok uploads, /tiktok status and /tiktok test. The test command is an illustrative preview, not evidence of a detected video. The new bridge must be installed before web connections work with these commands.

Polling defaults to 30 minutes with a 15-minute minimum. Initial activation ignores older posts. The bot keeps delivery records across restarts and holds uncertain sends for investigation.
